SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Monday, Utah! As we start the work week, our temperatures will continue to warm with limited moisture streaming into the area this afternoon and evening.

Bottom Line?! Increasing cloud cover late in the afternoon as another cold front moves through.

A passing system will drive a mainly dry cold front through the area late tonight into early Tuesday.  Plan on mostly cloudy skies this evening and a slight chance of a shower for the valleys, the best chance for any real precipitation will be over the higher terrain.

Temperatures will be mild today ahead of the front with highs near 70 degrees for the Wasatch Front, St. George will climb into the low 80s with mostly sunny skies and breezy winds. Temperatures will slide on Tuesday behind the cold front.

The cooldown in temperatures on Tuesday will bring daytime highs back down into the low 60s for much of the Wasatch Front, within five degrees of seasonal averages. Overall, it will be a nice day as we’re in between the cold front that passed through early Tuesday morning, and another mostly dry front moving in on Wednesday into Thursday. Winds will be breezy statewide with mostly sunny skies.

The trough impacting mainly northern Utah midweek will keep temperatures tumbling Wednesday. Highs are back down in the 40s and 50s for northern Utah with partly cloudy skies, and a slight chance of showers as well. Once again, the best chance for moisture will be over the higher terrain with little to no accumulations expected.

Southern Utah will remain in the sunshine with less impact on temperatures, daytime highs remain in the mid 80’s through Tuesday with a drop into the mid to upper 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures start to warm back up by the end of the week and sunshine returns statewide on Friday.  Above-average warmth will take over as we head into the weekend with another possible clipper storm system early next week. Stay tuned.
