A biker has been killed in a crash on the A5 in Conwy county.

Police and paramedics were called to the two-vehicle collision on the A5 at Padog Bends near Betws-y-Coed just before 11.15am today.

The crash involved a Volkswagen Sharan car and a Honda motorcycle, said North Wales Police.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that the driver of the car also suffered minor injuries.

Officers have closed the road due to the tragedy and police are diverting traffic away from the scene.

Sergeant Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision to come forward.

“Equally anybody who may have been travelling along the A5 near Betws-y-Coed and who may have dash cam is also asked to make contact with us.”
