A man has been arrested after police spotted him ‘smoking cannabis’ in a suspected stolen car in Walsall.

West Midlands Police said the vehicle, believed to be a Hyundai Matrix, was stolen from a delivery driver a few days before the seizure in Hunter Crescent in the Leamore area on Wednesday, August 28.

The man – who has not been named – was detained after being caught smoking cannabis in the driving seat at around 3.15pm, a spokesman for the force said.

He was later arrested on suspicion of the theft of the car and for possession of cannabis.

A spokesman took to social media to say: “This vehicle was stolen, with keys, from a delivery driver just a few days ago in Walsall.

“We have just arrested the new keeper whilst sitting in the driving seat smoking cannabis.”
