Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 

Animal Complaint

2:08 p.m.: A reporting party at Leonard Farm stated there were five goats running down Sunderland Road.

Suspicious

3:29 p.m.: A reporting party at 1039 North Pleasant St. stated there were three individuals dressed in Liberty Electric outfits going door to door. The individuals were described as a black male, black female and white male.

4:04 p.m.: A reporting party stated they saw an individual urinating in public at 1 East Pleasant St. At the time, an officer was monitoring the individual, who was holding a sign some might have found offensive. The officer figured the individual would generate some complaints. When officers responded to the call, the individual was in the same spot and advised he had been standing there for the past 30 minutes and felt the call was made to get him removed from his spot.

11:36 p.m.: A reporting party stated there was a male party in a black hoodie and carrying a black backpack looking into vehicles near 22 Lessey St. Security advised they saw a male of that description loitering around the parking lot before he walked down Main St. and into Boltwood Walk. There was no crime reported at the time and the involved party was gone on arrival.

Fight

4:39 p.m.: A man holding a sign on the sidewalk near 258 Triangle St. allegedly punched a college-aged male in the face, according to a reporting party. The college-aged male found the sign offensive and confronted the man and tried to take his sign away from him. According to the man with the sign, the involved party put up his hands and told him he was a boxer while throwing jabs at him. The man with the sign advised he extended his hand and shoved the male back away from him. Neither party wished to pursue charges and they both agreed to disagree and stay away from each other.

Disabled Motor Vehicle

4:48 p.m.: A disabled motor vehicle was located in the middle of the road at 351 Northampton Road. The vehicle was located in the eastbound lane prior to the intersection with University Drive and was out of the lanes of traffic and was not a traffic hazard.

10:21 p.m.: The tire air pressure alert came on in a white 2008 Acura MDX at 313 North East St. The operator stopped to check tires and directions to the nearest gas station were provided.

10:31 p.m.: A yellow 2002 Pontiac Aztek was reported as disabled near 1501 West St. The vehicle had a flat tire and was removed from the roadway.

Motor Vehicle Stop

5:08 p.m.: A warning was issued for a lane violation at 25 East Pleasant St. to the driver of a gray 2007 Chevy Malibu.

7:45 p.m.: A verbal warning was issued to the driver of a black 2015 Jeep Cherokee for operating without headlights at 256 North Pleasant St. The vehicle was found to be unregistered and was in a valid parking space. The operator said they would renew the registration online before operating the vehicle again.

7:52 p.m.: The operator of a red 2007 Ford Fusion was issued a verbal warning for operating without headlights near 301 South Pleasant St.

8:11 p.m.: At 40 Main St., the operator of a red 2006 Dodge Caravan was issued a verbal warning for violation of marked lanes.

8:22 p.m.: A verbal warning was issued to the operator of a gray 2011 Honda CRV for not using headlights near 40 Main St.

Recovered Property

6:00 p.m.: A small change purse was found at 30 South Prospect St. and turned in. The purse was returned to its owner.

Trespass

8:18 p.m.: A reporting party at Colonial Village Apartments at 81 Belchertown Rd. stated they had a trespass order for an involved party and she was on the bus. APD had not been notified of the service and the involved party stated she had not yet been served.

Motor Vehicle Complaint

10:16 p.m.: At the Cumberland Farms at 21 Montague Rd., a reporting party stated a gray 2008 Pontiac Vibe was all over the road and was pulling into the parking lot. No violations were observed by responding officers.

Sunday, Oct. 12, 2019

 Noise Complaint

12:04 a.m.: Loud music was reported at 67 Spaulding St. Three to four people were playing music and a verbal warning was issued.

1:20 a.m.: A loud party was reported at 34 Kellogg Ave. There was music at a small gathering. A verbal warning was issued.

2:00 a.m.: Loud music and possibly dancing was reported in an apartment at Brandywine. Multiple apartments at 16 Brandywine Drive held small gatherings that each made a small amount of voice. Not one apartment was overly loud, but together, they made a loud noise that may have disturbed the reporting party. This has been an issue for the previous few weeks, as there were thin walls and multiple apartments having people over late at night.

Animal Complaint

12:27 a.m.: A possible rabid raccoon was reported in the area of 38 Nutting St.

9:01 a.m.: A reporting party at 19 Harlow Drive stated her small dog that looks like a fox slipped her collar and ran towards North Pleasant St. The dog was described as very afraid and the owner said she would run away from people. No tags or collars were on the dog.

Disturbance

1:47 a.m.: At 25 Kellogg Ave, a minor disturbance was observed. A gathering of people looked like they were about to fight, but there was no issue, only loud yelling.

10:05 a.m.: A reporting party at 1 Spring St. said an involved party was causing issues and was walking away as the call was made. The involved party left prior to arrival. The reporting party said the individual was verbally harassing volunteers at the market and was asked to leave. An area search was negative.

Motor Vehicle Stop

 1:54 a.m.: At 35 East Pleasant St., a gray Honda Ridgeline was stopped for a lights violation and a verbal warning was issued.

7:24 p.m.: A gray 2009 Honda CRV was issued a verbal warning for speeding at 925 South East St.

Traffic

2:06 a.m.: A manhole cover was reported popped up at 661 North Pleasant St. and was placed back.

11:00 a.m.: A tree was reported downed near 240 East Pleasant St. The Department of Public Works was contacted but the road was made passable by neighbors with a chainsaw. Debris was left for DPW to remove.

11:06 a.m.: At 1002 Bay Rd., a reporting party stated there were pieces of wood fell out of a truck and were on the road. There was no wood on the roadway upon arrival.

Suspicious Motor Vehicle  

2:49 a.m.: A van was reported in the parking lot of Sunset Grill & Pizza at 150 Fearing St. The reporting party was unsure of what they were up to. The van was unoccupied.

Suspicious

4:48 a.m.: An individual was waiting for a bus near 188 East Hadley Road and was advised there were no available buses at that hour. He was evasive about why he was there and where he was going. The individual was identified and sent on his way.

11:59 p.m.: An individual was laying on the porch in front of 85 Amity St. He said he was yelling much earlier but had stopped and agreed to keep quiet for the rest of the night.

Motor Vehicle Complaint

8:35 a.m.: A red 2019 Dodge Caravan was reported as all over the road at 23 Pelham Road.

Recovered Property

9:24 a.m.: A reporting party found a wallet at 270 Lincoln St.

Motor Vehicle Crash

6:28 p.m.: At 191 West Pomeroy Lane, a reporting party stated she hit a deer and it was still alive. There was no damage to the red 2011 Infiniti M37 involved in the crash. The vehicle clipped the deer’s rear legs and ran them over. The animal was dispatched on scene.

9:18 p.m.: A reporting party stated they struck a cement pillar in the parking garage at 33 Kellogg Ave with their 2014 Chevy Silverado.

Vandalism

11:19 p.m.: At The Pub at 15 East Pleasant St., an intoxicated college-aged male was struggling with the bouncer at the front door. He made his way to the office, exposed himself and urinated on their computers, according to a female staff. The 20-year-old Cambridge man was arrested for disorderly conduct, false liquor ID, destruction of property and malicious indecent exposure.

Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019

Vandalism

12:20 a.m.: At 75 East Pleasant St., an individual approached an officer and stated someone had broken through the white fence surrounding the air conditioning unit at the Bank of America ATM. There were no known suspects and the fence appeared undamaged and was put back in place.

Disturbance

1:14 a.m.: At the High Horse at 24 North Pleasant St., a 20-year-old Amherst man in custody punched a victim in the arm and then grazed the side of his head. He advised he was not injured and did not want medical treatment. The involved party did not want to press assault and battery charges and advised the fight started over a pizza. The 20-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Noise Complaint

 1:28 a.m.: Loud yelling and party noise was reported at Alpha Delta Phi at 778 North Pleasant St. There were four people speaking at a reasonable level outside in the backyard when officers arrived. There were approximately 10 people inside and no music was playing. No violation was observed and residents were advised of the complaint.

1:44 a.m.: At 33 Phillips St., an anonymous reporting party stated there was screaming, stomping and blowing whistles in the street. About 15-20 people were on the deck talking loudly. The resident stated they were just playing music and dancing, which would explain the stomping. Town bylaws were explained and a verbal warning was issued. The resident was cooperative and agreed to move everyone inside and send them home.

Motor Vehicle Complaint

 4:34 p.m.: At 1101 West St., a silver sedan, either a Toyota or Subaru, was reported swerving over the yellow lines. The vehicle was gone on arrival.

Animal Complaint

5:07 p.m.: A reporting party said there was a mouse or gerbil by the dumpsters and it was not afraid of people, shaking and possibly in distress. The mouse was located but was doing mouse things. It was not in distress, just looking for food.

Traffic

5:41 p.m.: At 4 Main St., a reporting party stated there had been an involved party in the roadway with his sign half an hour earlier. The involved party was on the sidewalk, not the road.

6:25 p.m.: A reporting party at 1403 South East St. stated there were cars parked on the road. The cars were parked on the reporting party’s lawn. The involved parties were located on Mount Pollux and agreed to move when asked.

Assist Citizen

 10:27 p.m.: At 101 Pelham Road, a reporting party was concerned that his ex-girlfriend was having mental health issues and was at his house. He wanted to have her moved along from the area. The involved party was in a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla and was upset the reporting party revealed that morning he had been cheating on her. She was sent on her way.

Monday, Oct. 14, 2019

Motor Vehicle Stop 

12:22 p.m.: At 170 North Pleasant St., a verbal warning was issued to an operator for failing to stop at a stop sign on Fearing St.

Larceny

12:23 p.m.: At 310 Belchertown Road, a reporting party returned after being gone for a few days. During that time, a package was delivered with her prescribed anti-depressants and the package was stolen, according to her roommate. There was no evidence of who took the medication, which was a 90-day supply.

Disabled Motor Vehicle

1:46 p.m.: At 100 Meadow St., a white 2001 GMC Sierra with a trailer was broken down in traffic. An officer remained on scene while the owner worked on it and got it started eventually.

Disturbance

1:57 p.m.: A reporting party at 175 University Drive stated there was an involved party on the bus yelling and giving the drivers a hard time and they would like her removed. The individual was seated calmly on the bench after getting off the bus prior to officers’ arrival. There were no apparent issues.

3:31 p.m.: UMass Transit reported an involved party was on a bus at 615 Main St., yelling and screaming at the driver. They wanted her removed and stated that she was trespassing on the bus. The individual was located and indicated that she asked the driver a question and got mad when she didn’t know the answer. The officer asked that she try to be nicer to people and she kindly declined.

6:04 p.m.: A reporting party states an involved party was yelling and causing a disturbance for the fourth time that day on the PVTA bus. The reporting party further stated there is paperwork indicated the involved party is trespassing, but APD does not have that paperwork. The party was escorted off of the bus at 164 North Pleasant St. and transported back to her apartment. The reporting party followed up and said the Hadley Police Department served the involved party the trespassing paperwork and were advised to give APD a copy of the documentation.

 911 Hang Up

 2:45 p.m.: At 77 Shays St., a 911 Open Line call was made from a cell phone. There were negative results with the silent call procedure. A returning call went to the voicemail of a male party named Jeff. It was later revealed to be a pocket call from mowing the lawn.

Noise Complaint

2:57 p.m.: A reporting party stated there was loud music from an apartment above his at 188 East Hadley Rd. The noise was gone on arrival. 

Suspicious

4:01 p.m.: A reporting party from 311 Belchertown Road came into the station to report her neighbor’s mail was found in her driveway opened and she did not receive any mail, which was unusual. She had not observed anyone suspicious in the area recently, but has seen a college-aged white male on a bicycle in her driveway and going through her mailbox in the past. She requested extra patrols in the area between noon and 3 p.m., when the mail arrives.

 Assist Citizen

6:00 p.m.: An officer spoke with a reporting party, who stated their involvement in a previous rear-end collision, where damage was done to both the gray 2011 Ford Explorer and white 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The operators exchanged information. The officer found this incident occurred in Pelham.

Shoplifting 

6:04 p.m.: A reporting party at Amherst Wines and Spirits at 308 College St. requested to see an officer about the theft of a nip. The listed party took one nip of Smirnoff vodka, valued at $1, and was captured on the security camera. He will be seeking a trespass.

Motor Vehicle Crash, Police Department

7:01 p.m.: A white 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was turning right onto East Hadley Road from South Pleasant Street while a blue 2008 Toyota Yaris was traveling straight onto West Street from South Pleasant parallel, causing a collision. Minor denting and paint scraping to both vehicles, but no injuries were reported. Both operators exchanged information and drove away.

Noise Complaint

11:29 p.m.: A reporting party states a loud bass coming from Puffton Village 49 on 1040 North Pleasant Street Apt. 49. No bass or music was heard on arrival, only a few roommates quietly watching a movie. The town bylaws were explained and a warning was issued.
