A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a car dramatically smashed into a Bootle wall.

Emergency services were called to Marsh Lane, shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, to reports of a crash between a blue Seat Leon and a black Ford Focus.

Dramatic pictures from the scene showed the front of the blue Ford smashed away as a large part of the wall was hit.

The black car was also left with significant damage and stopped in the middle of the road, as pictures show the air bags deployed after the impact of the crash.

A spokeswoman for the police confirmed on Wednesday the driver of the black Ford Focus was in a serious condition in hospital after the crash.
