A pedestrian is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on the A24 northbound in Dorking.

Surrey Police said that a black Volvo V50 estate collided with the 22-year-old man at the junction with London Road at around 5.45pm on Saturday (February 1).

The car was turning into London Road, close to where the Esso petrol station is, officers say.

Emergency services, including South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), have been at the scene since and the northbound carriageway, as well as the slip road, are expected to be closed "for some time".

The man is being treated for a life-threatening head injury following the collision.
