Three people have been seriously injured after eight people were caught up in a three-vehicle crash.

Emergency services were called to the High Street in Connah's Quay on Saturday evening following a crash involving a black Vauxhall Zafira, a black Renault Clio and a white Peugeot 108.

Witnesses said one of the vehicles crashed into the wall of the Custom House Hotel pub in Connah's Quay.

Paramedics, fire crews and police were all called to the scene, with the road closed in both directions for several hours.

Now, police have confirmed that three people were seriously injured.

In total eight people were caught up in the crash, one of whom was a pedestrian.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a three vehicle RTC on the High Street in Deeside involving a black Vauxhall Zafira, a black Renault Clio and a white Peugeot 108 at around 8.55pm on Saturday the 28th of November 2020.

"Three persons as a result have suffered serious injuries, two of which are currently in Aintree Hospital.

"We are also appealing for anybody who may have been travelling in the area which may have seen or have CCTV/Dash camera footage of any of the above vehicles in the area at the time.

"Anybody with information is asked to contact officers on the Roads Policing Unit quoting reference Y174933."

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said two crews attended the scene.

They said: "Three vehicles and eight casualties were involved, one of which was a pedestrian.

"One casualty was freed by firefighters using cutting equipment.

"Ambulance paramedics also attended."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on Connah's Quay High Street on Saturday evening 28 November at approximately 8.59pm.

"We attended the scene with one rapid response vehicle, three emergency ambulances and an urgent care doctor.

"There was also a resource from the North West Ambulance Service in Chester.

"Three patients were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital and a further one patient to Wrexham Maelor Hospital."

The road reopened at around 6.30am the following day.
