Danvers father, 33, identified as victim in fatal motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist who died after a crash in Danvers on Friday has been identified as 33-year-old Daniel Robichau, the Essex district attorney’s office said Monday.

Authorities said Robichau, of Danvers, was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading east on Maple Street shortly after 6:50 p.m. when he was hit by a 2009 Honda Accord that was taking a left turn from Poplar Street onto Maple Street.

Robichau suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital, State Police said. Authorities have not said whether the Accord’s driver was injured or whether they will face charges in the crash.

An online fund-raiser to assist Robichau’s family with funeral expenses had raised more than $16,000 as of Monday evening. His mother, Jeanette Dube, said Robichau was the father of two girls, ages 5 and 15.

“I am at a loss for words for all the love and support everyone has shown for Danny,” Dube wrote on Facebook. “I only hope he can see from wherever he may be, how much he is Loved and Missed, and the impact he had on so many people’s lives.”

A memorial for Robichau will be held Friday in Beverly, Dube said.
