Sierra Leone’s Health Minister, Austin Demby has confirmed that nine out of the 17 patients diagnosed with monkeypox have recovered.

No deaths have been reported. Eight patients remain hospitalized, including one new case announced on Thursday.

As of Thursday, January 30, 2025, the cumulative total of confirmed monkeypox cases in Sierra Leone is 17.

Two new recoveries were reported. The cases are distributed across several districts, with the Western Urban area reporting the highest number at four. Of the 17 confirmed cases, 11 are male and 6 are female.
