From drink driving to failing to wear a seat belt, these south Essex residents and visitors have been sentenced at magistrates' courts in recent weeks.


A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads after being caught over the legal alcohol limit in Southend.

Sukesh Reddy Pinnapureddy, 32, was driving a black Renault Megane on Southchurch Road on January 28 when he was found with 71 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Pinnapureddy, of Dalmatia Road, Southend, admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

He was banned from driving for 17 months, which could be reduced by 17 weeks if he completes a course. He was also fined £346, ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £138 surcharge.


A DRIVER has been banned from the driving after admitting dangerous driving in Southend.

Ricki Conaghan, 35, was caught driving a Ford Transit dangerously on the A127 and without a valid licence or insurance on Prince Avenue on July 25 last year.

Conaghan, of Morleys Road, Weald, Sevenoaks, pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months until he passes an extended test. His driving record was endorsed, but no penalty points were given. He was also fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs.


A DRIVER has been fined and given penalty points for using a car without insurance in Southend.

Georgy Choat, 31, was caught driving a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso on London Road on May 18 last year without valid insurance. Choat, of Surrey Avenue, Leigh, admitted the offence at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on last Thursday.

He was fined £461, given six penalty points on his driving record, and ordered to pay £110 in prosecution costs and a £184 surcharge.


A MAN has been fined for failing to wear a seatbelt while riding in a car in Southend.

Nikunj Goti, 26, was caught in the rear seat of a Volkswagen Golf on Sutton Road on May 6 last year without wearing a seatbelt.

Goti, of Woodgrange Drive, Southend, admitted the offence at Colchester Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.

He was fined £167 and ordered to pay £110 in prosecution costs and a £67 surcharge.


A MAN has been fined for refusing to provide a drug test sample while in police custody in Southend.

Callum Galloway, 28, failed to give a sample on December 13 last year after being arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft.

Galloway, currently held at HMP Highpoint, admitted the offence at Colchester Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

He was fined £40. No order for prosecution costs was made.


A woman has been given nine penalty points and fined for careless driving in Basildon.

Ana Ramos, 32, was found guilty in her absence of driving a Mercedes without due care and attention on Southernhay on April 20 last year.

Ramos, of Cherrydown East, Basildon, was also convicted of driving without a valid licence or insurance.

She was fined £180, given nine penalty points, and ordered to pay £110 in prosecution costs and a £72 surcharge. The case was heard at Colchester Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.


A DRIVER driver has been banned from the roads after being caught over the limit in Basildon.

Robert Cule, 30, was driving a Citroën C1 on the A1245 on February 9 when he was found with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Cule, of Sachfield Drive, Chafford Hundred, admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

He was banned from driving for 17 months, which could be reduced by 17 weeks if he completes a course. He was also fined £829 and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £336 surcharge.


A MAN has been fined for failing to provide driver information to police.

Alexander Davidson, of Valmar Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, was required to identify the driver of a Mercedes AMG in connection with an alleged offence but failed to do so on July 9, 2024.

The 22-year-old was found guilty in his absence at Stratford Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday. Davidson was fined £600, given six penalty points, and ordered to pay £300 in prosecution costs and a £240 victim surcharge.


A Stanford-le-Hope man has been fined for travelling on a train without a valid ticket.

Lewis Cross, 26, of Ferndown Close, boarded a train at Farringdon Station on September 5 last year without a valid ticket.

The case was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

Cross was fined £220 and ordered to pay £12.50 in compensation, £150 in costs, and an £88 victim surcharge.  


A LORRY driver has been slapped with a fine for jumping a red light.

Mark Perry, of Northampton Grove, Langdon Hills, admitted driving a Scania lorry through a red light on the A2 New Cross Road near Goodwood Road on June 26 last year.

He pleaded guilty at Bexley Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

Perry, 60, was fined £152, given three penalty points, and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £61 victim surcharge.  


A SPEEDING taxi driver has been banned from the roads for 28 days.

Declan Murphy, of Leslie Drive, Eastwood, was caught by an automatic camera exceeding the 20mph limit on the A3212 Millbank near Thorney Street on September 7, 2024.

The 57-year-old was driving an LEVC TX Vista Comfort Plus taxi.

He was sentenced at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Murphy was banned from driving for 28 days, fined £307, and given three penalty points. He must also pay £110 in costs and a £123 victim surcharge.
