A chaotic series of events unfolded ending in the arrest of man who allegedly attempted to carjack a victim and swung a knife at others.

On March 12 around 10:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a disorderly subject near New Cut Road and Grover Road in Severn.

Upon arrival, officers said they discovered that the suspect had stolen a white Dodge Charger and was involved in a minor accident.

After the crash, police said the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Larenzo Martin, exited the vehicle and attempted to carjack a maroon Hyundai Sonata by trying to force an elderly man out of the vehicle.

Authorities said that the victim managed to drive away, prompting Martin to return to the stolen Dodge Charger.

Officials said that witnesses in the area approached the Dodge Charger to check on Martin.

At that time, Martin allegedly swung a knife at the witnesses, but did not hit anyone. Then, police said Martin dropped the knife, which was secured by one of the bystanders.

Police then arrived on the scene and took Martin into custody.

Authorities recovered suspected PCP and crack cocaine from Martin, who police say has no fixed address.

Martin was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

He will then face charges for his role in the incident.
