Body of pilot recovered after helicopter crashes into Ohio reservoir
The body of a pilot has been recovered after a helicopter crashed into a reservoir in northeast Ohio Friday.
The call came in around 7:11 a.m. for a report of a helicopter crash into the Mogadore Reservoir in Portage County.
Multiple agencies responded to conduct rescue and recovery efforts.
Boats were deployed in order to get to the helicopter where crews used sonar equipment to recover the body of the pilot.
Officials said the helicopter struck power lines over the reservoir, causing it to crash into it.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the pilot as 52-year-old Anthony Jones, from North Royalton, Ohio.
An investigation into the timeline of what happened is ongoing, OSP said. They are also looking at flight logs to see where the helicopter was coming from and where it was headed.
OSP is leading the investigation, working with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
