Kolkata-based Ramkrishna Forgings Limited (RKFL) plans to double its steel casting capacity to 120,000 tonnes per year by 2025, reports Machine Maker. This growth strategy builds upon RKFL's history of expansion and diversification, from its beginnings as a small family-owned business focusing on the railway sector to its current position as a key player in multiple industries.

Currently, RKFL has a steel casting capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum. The company operates 16 plants in Jharkhand and intends to double its capacity to 120,000 tonnes by 2025. This will be achieved through significant investments in new acquisitions.

RKFL began exporting in 2010, and international sales, at present, constitute 60 per cent of the company’s revenue. Its major international clients include Volvo, Mack Trucks, Iveco, DAF, Scania, MAN, UD Trucks, and Ford Otosan, while North America represents the largest share of RKFL's export business.

The company has increased its product categories from 35 to 69 and diversified from two verticals to five.

The company recently secured a contract with a large US-based EV manufacturer, highlighting India's growing importance in the global supply chain, particularly with the increasing adoption of the "China plus one" strategy.
