K-9 officers help arrest drug traffickers after high speed chase through Knoxville
The parcel was a pallet with multiple shrink-wrapped boxes shipped from California.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Four men were arrested after drugs were shipped across the country, according to a police report obtained by WVLT News.
In the beginning of February, officials with Old Dominion Freight met with officers after a suspicious parcel was shipped from Los Angeles, California to Knoxville.
The parcel was a pallet with multiple shrink-wrapped boxes.
Knoxville Police Department K-9 officer Richard Wallace and K-9 Max responded to the scene. Max alerted officers that a controlled substance was inside the package.
Officers shipped the package to the correct location and monitored the storage unit.
They then saw two people get out of two separate cars at the unit: a Nissan Maxima driven by Kishion Jones and a white Chevrolet driven by Thomas Hatfield.

The two men opened it, began loading the boxes into their cars and drove away to the Country Club Apartments.
Officers approached the two cars with flashing lights. The driver of the Nissan sped away while officers were able to arrest the driver of the Chevrolet.
“A probable cause and consent search of the truck resulted in the discovery of approximately 140 pounds of marijuana in several cardboard boxes,” the police report stated.
Officers learned Cameron Alexander lived in the apartment, and about an hour after the chase, Alexander reported the Nissan was stolen.
“During a post-miranda interview, co-defendant Alexander admitted his involvement in the conspiracy to distribute marijuana,” the report stated. “He further admitted to allowing a friend he knows by the nickname, ‘Kee,’ drive his Nissan Maxima to go to the storage unit and falsely reported it stolen after being notified of the pursuit.”
Jones was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm and evading arrest risk of death or injury.
Alexander was charged with possession of a firearm, false reports to an officer and 70-300 pounds of substance containing marijuana.
Malachi Franklin was charged with 70-300 pounds of substance containing marijuana accessory.
Hatfield was charged with 70-300 pounds of substance containing marijuana.
