An Irish man adied after he was reportedly struck by a vehicle in Thailand. Neil More O'Ferrall was rushed to hospital after it is understood he fractured his neck in a horror crash.

At around 9 pm on Monday, police rushed to the collision in Khao Lak in the Thai province of Phang Nga, where the 54-year-old Irish citizen was allegedly struck by a black Ford Everest in front of the popular Sangsawan Resort.

Mr O'Ferrall was rushed to the nearby Khao Lak Medical Centre for treatment of his injuries, including a fractured neck, but he was sadly pronounced dead that night, the Irish Mirror reports.

According to local news site, Phuket News, officers found bloodstains and a black flip-flop near where the crash occurred. The news site also confirmed that Khao Lak Police have called the crash a "serious and shocking incident" as they referred the case to Phang Nga Provincial Police.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the Irish Mirror that an Irish man had lost his life in Thailand following the crash, adding that the office was providing "consular assistance".

A spokesperson said: "The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of this case and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases."
