Irishman on holiday in Thailand dies after being hit by car

An Irishman who was tragically killed after being hit by a vehicle in Thailand on Monday has been named locally as 54-year-old Neil More O'Ferrall.
He had been badly injured after he was struck by a black Ford Everest SUV as he crossed the road in the town of Khao Lak in Phang Nga province, 500 miles south of Bangkok, at around 9pm yesterday evening.
It has been reported that he suffered critical injuries to his neck and was rushed to Khao Lak Medical Centre, where he passed away.
Police who had quickly arrived at the scene, which is close to the Sangsawan Palace Resort, found the black Ford parked in the right lane near the median strip. The driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed to media that it is aware of this case and is providing consular assistance.
Khao Lak Police Captain Noppawat Engtheaw, said: "It has been accepted for investigation as a traffic case and an autopsy case, and we will proceed further."
Police have yet to confirm whether the SUV driver will be charged in relation to the incident.
Khao Lak officers have, however, reported it to the Phang Nga Provincial Police, describing the incident as "serious and shocking".
It has been reported that Mr More O'Ferrall was on holiday in Thailand at the time.
