A6 e-tron enters sedan segment that accounts for just 20% of BEVs.

Audi of America’s longest-range battery-electric vehicle is arriving stateside as a sedan, the Audi A6 e-tron, despite the overwhelming preference of late for electric utility vehicles.

In 2024, BEV sales in the U.S. reached approximately 1.3 million units, according to KBB.com. Utility vehicles and trucks, collectively categorized as light trucks, accounted for 80% of the BEV market, reflecting a strong consumer preference these days for CUVs and SUVs.

The 2025 Audi A6 e-tron, which has maximum EPA-rated range of 392 miles (631 km) is based on the same chassis as the Q6 e-tron, the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture.

There is one battery-pack option for the 800V A6 e-tron: a 100-kWh (94.4-kWh net) that can accept up to 270 kW from a powerful enough DC fast charger for a 10% to 80% quick-fill in 21 minutes at maximum efficiency.

Audi explains that the maximum charging speed can be achieved when connecting to an 800V DC fast charger, but the A6 e-tron can also accept power from 400V chargers; the battery is divided into two 400V halves that charged at the same time at up to 135 kW.

The base A6 e-tron comes with one, rear-mounted 375-hp motor, and starts at $67,195. The maximum range is only achieved in the single-motor rear-wheel drive variant. There’s also a 465-hp dual-motor version, the A6 Sportback e-tron quattro, starting at $69,195. Audi claims acceleration to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.3 seconds. The EPA-estimated range is 377 miles (607 km) with the optional ultra package.

Audi is also offering a performance version called the S6 e-tron quattro. That trim has 543 hp, with range of 324 miles (521 km), a rear-biased AWD system, adaptive suspension system and a starting price of $79,995. All A6 E-Trons come standard with a panoramic glass roof.

Connectivity and infotainment highlights include: a basic Connect Care package that doesn’t require a subscription, and has remote locking, remote start, remote interior preconditioning, remote charging management, remote vehicle status and roadside assistance.
Options include Connect Nav, which adds real-time traffic information, charging station availability information and online parking information. The Connect Plus option level adds a Wi-Fi hotspot, online radio and Audi’s App Store. Connect NAV comes with a free three-year subscription. Connect Plus comes with a six-month free trial subscription.

The sedan market for BEVs seems skimpy, but Audi is expected to allocate production to North America based on sales patterns. For example, the Tesla Model Y, a compact crossover SUV, was the best-selling BEV in the U.S. in 2024, followed by the Tesla Model 3 sedan, according to J.D. Power. Overall, however, 80% of BEV sales last year were CUVs, SUVs and pickups, while just 20% were sedans.

While the actual U.S. BEV sales volume from German automakers, they outperform mass-market brands on a percentage basis, according to company reports. In 2024, Audi’s BEV sales were 12% of its total, Mercedes-Benz’s 8.5% And BMW’s 14%. Meanwhile, Ford’s U.S. BEV sales totaled4.7% and BEVs were just 2.8% of Honda/Acura sales last year.

In 2024, Audi sold approximately 241,000 vehicles in North America, with nearly 29,000 of those being fully electric vehicles. The U.S. accounted for 23,152 BEV sales, or 9.6% of total sales.
