As the demand for senior meal services in Coweta County continues to rise, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corp. has stepped up to support Meals on Wheels of Coweta, a nonprofit that provides home-delivered meals at no cost to clients.
Since 2020, Meals on Wheels of Coweta has expanded its services from delivering 43,000 meals annually to 65,000 in 2024, reflecting both the county’s growing senior population and increasing financial hardships.
The surge has placed a strain on resources, making Yamaha’s contribution a critical boost to the organization’s mission.
“Supporting Meals on Wheels of Coweta aligns perfectly with Yamaha’s commitment to corporate social responsibility,” said Bob Brown, Yamaha’s president. “Ensuring that seniors in our community have access to nutritious meals and the ability to remain in their homes is a cause we are proud to support.”
Beyond nutrition, Meals on Wheels provides seniors with social connection, helping to reduce isolation and improve health outcomes. The partnership with Yamaha comes at a crucial time as rising food and operational costs challenge the nonprofit’s ability to meet demand.
“Yamaha’s generosity and commitment to our mission will help us meet the rising need head-on,” said Lizabeth Andrew, the nonprofit’s executive director. “Their support ensures that we can continue to serve our seniors with dignity and care.”
With demand continuing to grow, Meals on Wheels of Coweta is calling on others in the community to help by donating, volunteering to deliver meals, or assisting with fundraising.
“Every meal we deliver represents more than food — it’s a connection and a lifeline for a senior in need,” Andrew said. “We can’t do this alone.”
