Victim of deadly Berkeley County ATV crash identified
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of an ATV crash.
Steward Simpson, 39 years, of Summerville, died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
At about 10:05 p.m. Saturday, troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say they responded to a crash on Highway 27, near Stonehenge Lane.
Officials say a Yamaha wrapped ATV was heading south and a 2008 Honda CRV was heading north on Highway 27 before both of the vehicles collided.
Police say Simpson, who was operating the ATV, died at the scene of the crash. They say the driver of the Honda CRV was injured and taken to Trident Medical Center by emergency personnel. There is no word on that person’s condition at this time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
