The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reported that a football fan lost his vehicle to robbers during the Gabon-Kenya match on Sunday, March 23.

In a statement, the DCI noted that the fan parked his vehicle by the roadside along Kisauni Road and walked into the Nyayo Stadium to watch the Harambee Stars match at around 3.40 pm.

However, on walking out of the stadium at around 7 pm, he found his silver Toyota IST missing and subsequently reported the matter to Akila Police Station in Lang'ata.

The DCI officers at the Lang'ata Police Station promptly launched an investigation to find the vehicle and it has already been circulated as missing.

The man has since provided sufficient proof of ownership of the vehicle to the police.

In another similar case, police in Juja are investigating the theft of a white Toyota Axio from a residential house in the Matangi area near Rurii Primary School, Kimbo.

The owner had reportedly left it parked outside his home on Saturday night but woke up on Sunday to find it gone.

The National Police Service (NPS) has since urged the public with any information about the missing vehicles to report to any police station or call the National Police Service.

Ending in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss, the World Cup qualifiers match was riddled with controversy starting off with rowdy fans breaking the gate into the Nyayo stadium and storming the site.

At the match, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was attacked by football fans who frog-matched him off the pitch urging him to "respect the President."

Another robbery at the match which has since gone viral was the robbery of businessman Jimal Roho Safi's wife Wangari Thiong'o who lost several valuables including Ksh256,000 in cash.

"My black bag was snatched today after the match at Nyayo Stadium. It had a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, 256k in cash, ear pods, a power bank, and important documents," she stated on Instagram.
