Yakima woman found competent for trial in hit-and-run case

A Yakima woman accused of crashing a neighbor's stolen Dodge Caravan into another vehicle has been deemed mentally competent to stand trial.

Savannah Jacqueline Castle entered a plea of not guilty to multiple charges, including hit-and-run, felony harassment, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license, driving under the influence, and violation of a protection order, last Thursday in Kittitas County Superior Court.

Castle was arrested following a hit-and-run incident reported near Reecer Creek Road shortly after 6 p.m. on December 27.

Upon stopping Castle, police noted her behavior as confused and paranoid.

Authorities contacted the vehicle's owner, who confirmed Castle was a neighbor and did not have permission to use the vehicle.

Castle remains in custody at Kittitas County Jail, with bail set at $40,800.
