The Thanjavur district administration has directed micro, small, medium and large-scale industrial units functioning or to be set up in rural areas in the district to comply with GO number 170 of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department dated November 11, 2024.
In an official release, it was pointed out that the industrial units/proposed units in rural areas had to obtain permission from local bodies for the establishment of factories/industries and installation of machineries as per GO number 170 of the department. They had to remit a sum of ₹150 per square metre as ‘built-up area fee’ as permission fee to the local body.
Hence, the existing or proposed industrial units classified as micro units with investment of up to ₹5 lakhs, small units with an investment of ₹5 to ₹7.50 lakh, medium industries with investment from ₹7.50 lakh to ₹10 lakh and large-scale industries with an investment of ₹10 lakh and above, had been directed to apply for permission along with no-objection certificates from fire service and town and country planning, land ownership/lease documents and other certificates from departments through the Block Development Officers and Assistant Director (Village Panchayats), the release added.
