American car company recalls vehicles; car can move forward when in reverse or neutral

One of the largest car manufacturers in the country has recalled multiple vehicles after a transmission issue was found to cause some cars to move forward when placed in reverse or neutral.

Ford Motor Company is recalling some of its 2024-2025 F-150, Bronco, 2024 Ranger, 2025 Mustang, Explorer and aviator vehicles, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report.

The report stated that the recalled vehicles have a transmission valve that was “machined incorrectly.” The faulty transmission valve can cause the reverse gear to fail and send the car forward when placed in reverse or neutral.

An estimated 269 vehicles are expected to be affected by the recall, the NHTSA report stated.

The following vehicles were included in the recall report:

  • 2024-2025 Ford Bronco
  • 2025 Ford Explorer
  • 2024-2025 Ford F-150
  • 2025 Ford Mustang
  • 2024 Ford Ranger
  • 2025 Lincoln Aviator

Owners of any of the affected vehicles are encouraged to contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The car manufacturer is replacing the faulty transmission valve free of charge.
