Four minutes of extra time were played in what was a victory for the Democratic Republic of Congo, which with very little was able to take the victory and the three points against a Mauritania that tried but was ineffective at the time of finishing.

GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL for the Democratic Republic of Congooooo! In a match that seemed to be settled by the way both teams were playing, Fiston Mayele appears to grab a rebound from a bad clearance by the Mauritanian defense and extend the lead.

Little or nothing happened in the second half, the visitors controlled the score well and focused on being organized in the defensive zone, but Mauritania showed no way to generate danger.

In these first minutes of the second half, the Mauritanian national team went all out on the attack looking to score the equalizer without letting much more time pass, but they were offside in their attacking moves.

The last 45 minutes start at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou in the partial victory of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the home of the Mauritanian national team.

A minute of extra time will be played at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou where the DR Congo is partially winning against a Mauritania that does not prove to be a dangerous opponent for the visitors.

The match is a constant back and forth, mostly a back and forth between Mauritania but they fail to generate dangerous plays and the DR Congo manages and defends well the result in their favor. 

Despite the fact that the DR Congo team has the score in its favor, after the goal they have not attacked the Mauritanian area again, but the locals do not seem to have the tools to create sufficiently dangerous attacking plays either.

Mauritania is going on the attack in search of an equalizer but so far they have not been effective enough to finish plays, having already taken 2 corner kicks. Maybe it is more the enthusiasm of the fans than the plays as such.

The Mauritanian team gets the first corner kick of the match that ends up rejected by a visiting player and sends the ball to a throw-in. We still don't have the first shot on goal by the home side.

Without excitement so far, the Mauritanian team is now the one who has the most possession of the ball with 65%, but they are not able to generate much danger in front of the goal.    

After the early goal, there were no further developments in the match, with DR Congo dominating possession of the ball and Mauritania still unable to create any dangerous chances in the opponent's area.

For its part, the Democratic Republic of Congo national team led by French coach Sébastien Desabre, ranked 61st in the FIFA ranking, has had an acceptable performance in these qualifiers, recording three wins, one draw and one loss, occupying second place in Group B with 10 points, one point behind leader Sudan.

The Leopards will be looking to continue their undefeated record against a Mauritania team they have never lost to in the history.

The national team of Mauritania coached by Spanish Aritz Lopez Garai, ranked 109th in the FIFA ranking, has had a very poor performance in these 2026 World Cup Qualifiers where so far they have two wins, three defeats and no victories, thus occupying fifth place in Group B with only 2 points.
