A 76-year-old man died in the hospital Sunday after being struck by a car while walking along Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie eight days earlier.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to call at about 10 p.m. on March 15 and found the man on the ground in the right westbound lane. A woman in a stopped Toyota Sienna was in the left lane when they arrived. The man was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
The Sheriff's Office said its initial investigation indicates the woman was driving in the center lane when the man stepped in front of her vehicle. The woman showed no signs of impairment Toxicology results are pending and the investigation is active, the Sheriff's Office said.
