The ranking of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants was revealed at a ceremony on 25 March in Seoul, South Korea at the Grand Hyatt. Two restaurants from India have once again made it to the list. Mumbai’s fine dining restaurant Masque is the best restaurant in India, ranked at #19 this year. The annual list is calling it “one of Asia’s most forward thinking restaurants”. Masque snagged the American Express One To Watch award in 2020, and was ranked at #32 on the 1-50 list the following year. It consistently ranked amongst Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants three times in a row from 2022 to 2024. New Delhi’s Indian Accent is #46 this year, having consistently ranked on the list every year for more than decade.

The 13th edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants has ranked Gaggan in Bangkok #1. The theatrical restaurant helmed by eccentric Kolkata-born chef Gaggan Anand has snagged the #1 spot on this list a total of five times so far. A second restaurant by Gaggan Anand, Gaggan at Louis Vuitton in Bangkok, is #31 on this year’s list. The Chairman, a modern Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong is at #2 this year. Bangkok and Tokyo have the most entries on the top 50 list this year; both cities have nine restaurants each on the rankings. Hong Kong and Singapore each had seven entries. Seoul in South Korea, where the awards were hosted, boasts four spots on this year’s list.

New entries from Vientiane, Ubud, Hanoi, and Penang are significant additions. The 51-100 extended list of Asia’s best restaurants was revealed two weeks ago, on which Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul saw significant representation, each with six establishments on the list. The extended list also features five much-loved restaurants from India, with NAAR, India’ first ever destination dining restaurant in Kasauli at #66, and Farmlore, an 18-seater farm to table restaurant on the outskirts of Bengaluru at #68, both of which are new entries from India on this year’s extended list. Mumbai’s Americano (#71) and The Table (#88), and New Delhi’s Dum Pukht (#89) have once again made it to the extended list.
