Sherman: Kansas City Royals exploring stadium sites in both Missouri and Kansas
Kansas City Royals owner John Sherman said Wednesday the team is considering multiple opportunities in both Kansas and Missouri for a new stadium.Sherman said he feels good about how things are progressing."It's a complicated process," Sherman said. "We have multiple opportunities on both sides of the state line. It's just a process. I feel really, really good. I have empathy for people who feel the process is not clarified.""We have a solid group of potential partners trying really hard to do something," he said. "It'll be a tough process."Sherman hinted that more clarity could come by mid-June or July.He did not comment on Washington Square Park as a potential site or other specific locations but reiterated that a downtown stadium remains an option."It's certainly one of the things that might work," he said. "We need to make what is the best decision for the team and the community. There are variables out there, more broadly, whether it's urban or high-density, where we have the opportunity to create economic activity" 365 days a year.Sherman's comments come a day after a management group publicly shot down a sports radio report about a site near 119th Street and Nall Avenue. “That didn’t come from us," Sherman said. "When we have something we are ready to talk about, we’ll talk about it.”
