Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a heart attack during a domestic T20 match in Dhaka on Monday.
The 36-year-old cricketer, who has represented Bangladesh in 391 international matches, was immediately placed on life support and underwent an emergency angioplasty to treat a blockage in his arteries.
What Happened During the Match
Tamim, playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier League, began the match with his usual energy but soon complained of chest pains after the toss.
He managed to play just one over before leaving the field and heading to the hospital.
The severity of the situation was quickly realized, and he was transferred to KPJ Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a heart attack and needed urgent medical attention.

Medical Procedure and Recovery Update
After undergoing surgery to clear the blocked arteries, Tamim’s condition improved.
He was able to speak to his family members and even walked briefly around the hospital.
Mohammedan’s physiotherapist, Enamul Haque, emphasized how crucial it was to get Tamim to the hospital quickly to save his life.
Enamul added that Tamim had to undergo surgery to implant stents to clear the blockage.

They also confirmed that Tamim’s health would be closely monitored, and the board remained in constant contact with the hospital’s medical team to ensure he received the best care.
BCB president Faruque Ahmed noted that the overwhelming concern for Tamim reflected the deep love and respect the nation has for him.
