Indian mission awaits response from Guinea over missing Rajasthan man

Jivraj Beniwal, an Indian national from Rajasthan, was reported missing from Conakry on the evening of December 29, 2024. Talking to The Indian Express, his brother Virama Beniwal said Jivraj last spoke to the family around 8 pm that day.

Three months after he was reported missing from Guinea capital Conakry, a Barmer man remains untraceable despite efforts by the Indian mission and the local government authorities. The Indian mission, it is learnt, is following up the case with Guinea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has forwarded the matter to the country’s Ministry of Security and Civil Protection.

The Indian mission in Guinea received the first information about him missing on December 31, 2024. It tried to contact his local mobile number but it was not reachable, said those aware of the matter.

The mission shared a message with the Indian diaspora, requesting them to share any information on Jivraj’s whereabouts. His family has sought help from all quarters, including the MEA, to figure out his whereabouts and bring him back to the country.

The mission has again requested the Conakry authorities to investigate the matter and urgently share information on Jivraj’s whereabouts, sources told The Indian Express.

Guinea’s Foreign Ministry informed the mission that the matter was transferred to the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection and their response would be communicated to the embassy as soon as possible, sources said.
