Hyundai celebrates grand opening of Georgia $7.6B metaplant

Hyundai's new facility is a key component of its $12.6 billion investment in Georgia, marking the largest economic development project in the state's history.

Hyundai Motor Group just celebrated the opening of its new massive EV plant in Georgia. The Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is part of the automaker’s $12.6 billion investment in Georgia and is the largest economic development project in the state’s history.

Located in Ellabell, Georgia, the HMGMA will expand Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production capacity by 1.2 million vehicles annually. The facility will manufacture both fully electric vehicles and hybrid models, supporting the company’s EV initiatives. The plant is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles per year, with the potential to expand to 500,000 in the future. Hyundai’s investment has also drawn in 18 suppliers and a joint-venture battery plant with LG Energy Solution, further strengthening Georgia’s position as a central manufacturing hub.
