MSHP investigating crash involving bicyclist, Sikeston DPS vehicle

SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a crash involving a bicyclist and an SUV in Sikeston late Wednesday night, March 27.

The crash happened on South Kingshighway at Trotter Street around 10:22 p.m.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Clark Parrott, a preliminary investigation shows that a Sikeston Department of Safety patrol unit, a Dodge Durango, and a bicycle were both traveling southbound when the bicyclist attempted to cross the road in front of the patrol SUV and was hit.

An MSHP online report states the bicyclist, a 54-year-old Sikeston man, was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries.

The officer driving the patrol SUV was not hurt.

MSHP reports the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and the SUV has minor damage.
