Haiti - Politic : Report on President Fritz Alphonse Jean's trip to Jamaica (video)
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Fritz Alphonse Jean, the President pro tempore of the Transitional Council (CPT), returned home after his official trip to Jamaica, where he met with several heads of State and Government of CARICOM countries and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

He was welcomed at Toussaint Louverture International Airport by, among others, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Secretary General of the National Palace, Marie Élisabeth Régine Joseph Haddad, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, the Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police, Normil Rameau, and several other officials.

During his press conference summarizing his trip, he stated that all the meetings focused primarily on the insecurity facing Haiti. He took the opportunity to express his condolences to the people and government of Kenya for the death of the Kenyan police officer on March 24, 2025, in the Artibonite department. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-44563-icihaiti-insecurity-a-second-kenyan-killed-in-the-fight-for-peace-in-haiti.html

With U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Fritz Alphonse Jean discussed transnational crimes that have a major impact on the country's stability. In this regard, Rubio reportedly renewed his commitment "to review his position on the Haiti issue" in order to further contribute to the fight against instability. Finally, he met with the Prime Ministers of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados, also on the issue of security.

Immediately after the press conference, Alphonse Jean led a delegation including Presidential Advisor Leslie Voltaire, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and the Director General of Police, Normil Rameau, to visit the Clercine multinational force base. Godfrey Otunge, Commander of the Multinational Mission, welcomed the delegation.

In his speech, Fritz Alphonse Jean expressed his condolences to all the international soldiers and police officers affected by the death of their colleagues in the Artibonite department. He thanked them for coming to help Haiti. He expressed his gratitude for the great sacrifices they make to accomplish this difficult mission. He encouraged the foreign police and military personnel and renewed the government's commitment to supporting them in the fight to establish peace in Haiti.
