COOKEVILLE — Cookeville walked off with an 11-8 win over Lebanon on Thursday when the Lady Cavaliers’ Ella Dudney blasted a three-run homer to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Alyssa Horne led Lebanon’s offense with three of the Lady Devils’ 12 hits, including a first-inning RBI single.
Dudney hit into a two-run fielder’s choice in the bottom of the inning to put Cookeville up 2-1.
Horne’s double drove in two runs to highlight Lebanon’s five-run fifth inning for a 6-2 lead.
Cookeville came back to tie the score at 7-7.
Kyndall Robinson’s solo home run to center put Lebanon back in front 8-7 in the top of the seventh.
Gabbi Romero’s RBI triple tied the score in the bottom half, setting up Dudney for her winner.
Dudney pitched a complete game for Cookeville while Horne threw the first four frames for the Lady Devils, who outhit the Lady Cavs 12-111.
Robinson, Caitlin Greer and Teagan Fetcho had multiple hits for Lebanon. Fetcho had two of the Lady Devils’ seven stolen bases.
DCA hands Friendship 1st district defeatBailey Goad held host Friendship Christian scoreless until the seventh inning Thursday as Donelson Christian handed the Lady Commanders their first District 4-IIA loss 3-2.
Goad walked one and struck out 14. One of the four hits she allowed was Bella Ellis’ two-run double in the bottom of the seventh. She also homered.
Izzy Wilson gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out six as Friendship fell to 8-5 for the season and 4-1 in the district.
The Lady Commanders will travel to Chapel Hill on Monday to take on Forrest.
Lady Bears blast White House 12-0MT. JULIET — A seven-run third inning helped boost Mt. Juliet past White House 12-0 Thursday night at Mike Gwaltney Field.
Chloe Younggren hit a solo home run to center field. Avery Haymans, Kara Hughes and Annabella Brewer had RBI singles, Kendall Bucher a two-run single and Younggren an RBI double.
Layla Patrick’s RBI groundout put the Lady Bearson the board in the second inning.
Annalise Mecklenburg blasted a three-run homer to center field in the fifth.
Ashlyn Elliott pitched a five-inning two-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Younggren, Mecklenburg and Haymans each had two of Mt. Juliet’s 11 hits. Brookelynn Aldridge drew two of the Lady Bears’ six walks.
Mt. Juliet split Warrior Classic gamesMURFREESBORO — Playing in the Warrior Classic at Barfield Park, Mt. Juliet beat Lake Zurich (Ill.) 7-1 in a battle of the Bears on Wednesday before dropping a 9-3 decision to Boonville (Ind.).
Chloe Younggren drove in four runs against Lake Zurich on a two-run single in the second inning and a two-run homer to center in the fourth. Ashlyn Elliott also double in a score in the four-run fourth with another tally coming home on a passed ball.
After Lake Zurich took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, Mt. Juliet went ahead 3-1 in the bottom half of singles by Younggren and Kendall Bucher.
Jewel Hale allowed a run on five hits and three walks while striking out four in seven innings for Mt. Juliet.
Younggren, Hale and Annabella Brewer each banged out three of Mt. Juliet’s 17 hits while Elliott and Annalise Mecklenburg had two apiece.
Boonville broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
The Lady Bears pulled into the tie in the fourth on a groundout by Aynslee Bright and a single by Bucher.
Mecklenburg surrendered nine runs (six earned) on 12 hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings in the circle.
Bucher led the Lady Bears’ offense with a 3-for-4 effort from the leadoff spot.
Green Hill run-rules Dickson County
MT. JULIET — Technically, Green Hill fell behind again Wednesday night, but only by one run in the top of the first inning before the Lady Hawks run-ruled Dickson County 14-4.
The Lady Cougars’ lead only lasted until the bottom of the first inning when RBI singles by Kei Burns and Alyx Frost helped Green Hill go up 4-1.
Taylor Watson’s RBI made it 5-1 in the third.
Dickson County gradually closed to within 5-4 by the fifth inning.
But Jayla Page powered a three-run homer to right field and Avary Stockwell a two-run shot to center as Green Hill roared in the sixth to run-rule the visitors.
The Lady Hawks will return to action Monday at Goodpasture.
Davis’ 3-run blast lift Jordan, Lady Devils
SMYRNA — Keeli Davis’ three-run homer to center field broke open a close game in the top of the sixth inning Tuesday night, lifting Lebanon past host Stewarts Creek 5-1.
Caitlin Greer’s RBI single put the Lady Blue Devils ahead in the first.
Davis and Greer each had two hits to lead Lebanon.
Kenzie Jordan allowed a run on four hits and a walk in seven innings for the Lady Devils, who will remain in District 7-4A action tomorrow at Cookeville.
Two, two and two — Wilson pitches Friendship past Davidson
NASHVILLE — Friendship Christian put up a trio of two-spots Tuesday to defeat host Davidson Academy 6-1.
The Lady Commanders scored in the first, fourth and seventh innings, finishing with six hits to climb to 8-4 for the season and 4-0 in District 4-IIA action.
Izzy Wilson held Davidson to five hits, two walks and a first-inning run while striking out eight.
Khloe Smith homered and drove in two runs while Kaylyn Schiro also knocked in two scores on a double and single.
Friendship will host Donelson Christian tomorrow.
