When Saratoga Springs was first incorporated in 1997, there were just a few roads providing access to the city: Redwood Road, Crossroads Boulevard and what was known then as Old Saratoga Road. We have come a long way from the four-way stop that was at the intersection of Redwood Road and Crossroads Boulevard at that time.
These restricted access points reduced vehicle mobility for both Saratoga Springs residents and travelers heading to Eagle Mountain. Since then, both the city and the state have built and improved roads in this area. The construction of state roads such as Pioneer Crossing and 2100 North and the widening of Redwood Road in 2017 has had a huge impact on access and vehicle mobility in and out of the city.
Saratoga Springs will spend $32 million over the next four years on multiple road construction projects, including the extension of Pony Express Parkway east to 1100 West and the widening of Foothill Boulevard to five lanes. These projects will bring the total spent for road improvements by the city to $90.3 million over a 20-year span.
UDOT will spend approximately $2.4 billion on state road improvements in this area over the next four years. Constructing a freeway system from Interstate 15 in Lehi that connects to the Mountain View Corridor — extending north to Bluffdale and south through part of Saratoga Springs before heading west into Eagle Mountain — will significantly enhance regional connectivity. Additionally, expanding Pioneer Crossing to six flex lanes will provide much-needed improvements for commuters and other traffic.
Saratoga Springs has grown to a city of almost 67,000 residents in less than 30 years. With this quick growth, many residents don’t know the history of roads in Saratoga Springs. To help residents understand future choices regarding road construction, they need to understand the history of roads as well.

To assist with this, we have created the 2025 Road report. This report provides a timeline of road construction projects and some of what has been done behind the scenes to improve interconnectivity and road mobility in Saratoga Springs over the last 15 years. It also highlights projects that will be built by the city and the state over the next five years.
By using master planning and data-driven decision-making and working with state and other regional and local partners, we can continue to improve and construct more roads to increase interconnectivity and vehicle mobility in our area. A PDF of the report can be found on the city website at www.saratogasprings-ut.gov/roads.
