WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich,. (WPBN/WGTU) - - There has been an update on repairs at the Wexford County Civic Center after strong winds damaged the roof earlier this month.
Wexford County Administrator Joe Porterfield says a roofing company made temporary repairs after the wind damage on March 16, but they have since learned that the entire auditorium roof needs to be replaced.
Porterfield says multiple auditorium events have been canceled.
The goal is to have a new roof installed by late April to keep one of Cadillac’s biggest events on schedule.
“Specifically by the 25th, which is the day we’re scheduled to have our annual governor's breakfast. That’s a pretty important event for our community and for the children in our community, especially those high school students that are in government classes, to hear what the governor has to say and be able to see their local official out there,” said Joe Porterfield Wexford County Administrator.
Porterfield says he’s in touch with the Cadillac Area Visitor's Bureau and Chamber of Commerce to secure a backup location for the governor’s breakfast if roof repairs aren’t finished in time.
