'Neighbour keeps parking in my driveway – they gave wild reason when I confronted them'
A woman has slammed her 'entitled' neighbour for allowing their employees to park in her driveway when they are busy working at her house - and she has had enough of it
A woman has criticised her 'entitled' neighbour for allowing their employees to park in her driveway while working at her house. She detailed how her neighbour operates a pet grooming business from home, which results in clients frequently visiting throughout the day.
Due to limited street parking and two vacant driveway spaces during the day, the neighbour began suggesting her employees and customers use these spots for convenience. However, upon discovering this, the woman was understandably frustrated.
Sharing her experience on Mumsnet, she said: "I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each."
She further explained the parking situation in her area: "Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is eight terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs."
She was surprised to find an unfamiliar car in her driveway: "My front drive is very clearly my driveway. I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not my husband's."
Consequently, she confronted her neighbour about the issue, saying: "I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer.
"'But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then.' I reply, 'No, move it now please as I have to unload my car.' Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes. That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer."
She explained how this car has been either parking in her drive or over her driveway every morning – a situation she's been tolerating for months but can't fathom why it's causing issues now.
She continued: "When he questioned them about it, apparently my entitled neighbour has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!".
"Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again. I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the person to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road."
Expressing her frustration online, one supporter suggested: "Oh my god that is super cheeky! Anyway you could block it in with other stuff? Stuff obviously they can move but it will help make a point?".
"And hoping I get in there first for the future maybe penguin bollards?" Another sympathiser commented: "Get it towed." Meanwhile, a third chimed in: "Cheeky buggers. Definitely get yourself some drop bollards."
