COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are calling on the public for help after they say an ATV driver was run over by a car after first being chased by a minivan.

“We need your help solving a bizarre and violent crime that occurred last night just after 8 o’clock inside Rosehill Grange Park,” the Commerce City Police Department wrote in a social media post Friday.

As of Monday morning, the suspects have not been caught.

According to police, the rider on the ATV was first followed into the park by the van.

“As the 3-wheeler was apparently being chased by the minivan, a second vehicle ... entered the park from the east, seemingly intentionally running over the 3-wheeler and its rider,” the police department said.

Both vehicles then sped away from the scene, leaving the badly injured ATV rider behind.

“He was transported to the hospital and is fortunately expected to recover but we need your help identifying the two vehicles involved in this disturbing incident,” the police department said.

Witnesses initially described the vehicle in the hit-and-run as a white 70s-style Ford Pinto or Maverick, but police later updated that it was a mid-80s model.

“It likely has front-end damage and possibly blue paint on its exterior as a result of the crash,” police said.

The minivan was only described as a Honda Odyssey.
