Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Daniel Maurate on Thursday met with his counterparts from Ecuador, Ivonne Elizabeth Nuñez, and Guyana, Joseph Hamilton, to strengthen international cooperation in the labor sector.

The visit of both government officials is part of preparations for the upcoming International Forum for Social Cohesion titled "Towards a New Social Contract," set to take place on Friday.

"We hope to continue this joint work with the ministers from Ecuador and Guyana to further foster the development of our communities in labor and social matters," Maurate said during the meeting with both officials at the Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment (MTPE) in Lima.

In turn, Minister Hamilton stated that Guyana is eager to strengthen dialogue with other countries in the region.

"We are the only English-speaking country in South America, but that should not limit us from working together for dignified employment for all," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Minister Nuñez highlighted that countries will not be able to close gaps or reduce poverty effectively "without labor and social development."

In turn, Minister Maurate explained how the MTPE's services and programs operate, as well as the achievements made in each area to ensure greater labor insertion of vulnerable individuals and young graduates, and to reduce job mismatches, among other efforts.

After the meeting, the officials toured the ministry's facilities, including the Lima Metropolitan Employment Center, which offers services with a productive and inclusive approach.

It is important to note that the visit by the ministers from Ecuador and Guyana aimed to promote technical cooperation and the exchange of best practices in labor and employment promotion, addressing common interests and setting an agenda to develop effective strategies.
