NOW, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS IDENTIFIED THE MAN CHARGED IN THE I-95 COLLISION THAT KILLED THREE PEOPLE. TROOPERS SAY VERNON HODGES WAS TRAVELING OVER 100MPH WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO PULL HIM OVER. HODGES THEN LED FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL ON A CHASE, WEAVING THROUGH TRAFFIC BEFORE CRASHING A TRUCK AND A TOW TRUCK AFTER THE CRASH, TROOPERS SAY THEY FOUND AN OPEN BOTTLE OF CORONA IN THE BACK SEAT AND A BLOOD TEST. TROOPERS SAY HODGES HAD A BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION OF 0.147. HODGES LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED FOR PREVIOUS DUIS.

      The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has identified the man charged in the Interstate 95 crash that killed three people.The Florida Highway Patrol said Vernon Hodges was traveling over 100 miles per hour, according to the arrest affidavit. When troopers attempted to pull Hodges over, he allegedly sped off while weaving through traffic.While trying to run away, the FHP said Hodges crashed into a truck and a tow truck, killing three people. Alicia Carter, 31, Eleasya Fulton, 24, and Leon Holmes, 41, were pronounced dead at the scene.Troopers said they found an open bottle of Corona beer in the rear passenger's seat. Troopers conducted a blood test and report Hodges had a .147 blood-alcohol content. Hodges' license had been suspended for previous DUI charges.He is expected back in court later in April.
