One person is in a life-threatening condition after a serious three-vehicle crash on the A38 in Somerset.
The accident was reported at 10pm last night (Saturday, April 5) on the A38 near Biddisham and Tarnock.
The crash involved a grey Seat Leon, a red Isuzu D-Max and a black Audi A4. There were five people that were injured as a result of the crash.
Two passengers from one car were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
One remains in a life-threatening condition.
The driver of another car was also taken to hospital. These injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver and a passenger of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene.
The A38 was closed in both directions to allow for initial investigative enquiries to take place, according to Avon and Somerset Police. The road has reopened in one direction just after 10am today.
Avon & Somerset Police said: "Efforts to establish the full circumstances of the collision are continuing today and we're appealing for anyone who witnessed it and has not yet spoken to an officer to contact us.
"Anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and has dashcam footage of the involved vehicles is also urged to come forward.

The police force also thanked motorists for their patience and understanding while investigations take place.
