ALBAWABA - Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara is planning to make official visits to Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next week, according to Reuters.
A source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry told the news agency that Syria's interim president will make his first visit to the UAE next week, and then he will be possibly heading to Turkey.
It is worth noting that al-Sharaa had previously visited Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where he participated in the recent Arab Summit. His visit to Turkey will be his second since assuming office.
His visit to Turkey and the UAE comes amid the ongoing Israeli escalation against Syria, most recently the bombing of Hama Military Airport and T4 Airport.
Separately, the Syrian president held a phone call on Sunday with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who congratulated him on the formation of the new Syrian government. Ibrahim affirmed Malaysia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
