DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX) — A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Delaware County on Monday.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on State Route 750 in Orange Township.
Abdimalik Hirad, of Worthington, was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound when he was struck head-on by a Chevy Silverado driven by Michael Nowakowski, of Columbus, according to a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Nowakowski, 43, reportedly drove left of center, resulting in the collision.
Hirad, 56, died at the scene. Nowakowski was rushed to Riverside Methodist Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to the OSHP statement.
Authorities noted that Hirad was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, whereas Nowakowski was.
The crash remains under investigation, with possible impairment and distractions yet to be determined.
