The second day of the trial of Tyler Lee Owens, the man accused of killing 21-year-old and former Tennessee High graduate, Stacie Brugger, has concluded.

The day was mostly set around testimonies from law enforcement officers involved with apprehending Owens back in February of 2022 or officers involved with the investigation into what happened to Stacie Brugger.

You can view a recap of each witness below.

Frank Rogers - Unicoi County Sheriff's Office:

Rogers, now chief deputy of the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department, says he interviewed Owens on both occasions - once at the scene and another at the sheriff's office. Rogers says, on the stand, that Owens was 'hesitant' to answer his questions about what happened to Stacie Brugger.

Rogers says in the interview, he tried tactics to get Owens to open up. Rogers says it was clear Owens knew what he was talking about when speaking about machinery, which the two connected with in the interview, compared to when the two were speaking on what happened to Stacie Brugger.

Rogers said, in his experience, when suspects pause the way Owens did, it's usually to think about what they are going to say next.

Gabriel Williams - Unicoi County Sheriff's Office (cont. - 2)

On the stand, Williams said the argument that Owens and Brugger were engaged in before the alleged incident was over his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Shauna Williams.

In an audio recording between officers and Owens at the Unicoi County Sheriff's office, Owens says during an argument, Brugger grabbed Owen's gun saying she was worthless and held the gun to her head. He says in the video; she loaded the gun's chamber.

In the recording, Owens admits to moving Brugger's body by placing her on a tent, wrapping her in a blanket and moving her to the Nissan Juke.

Owens says he picked up the phone to call 911 after the alleged incident happened but he ultimately did not call out of fear of his open warrant in North Carolina.

Owens also admits, in the recording -unprompted - that he was texting Brugger's phone after she was known to be deceased. During the more than two-hour long audio recording of the interview with law enforcement, Owens says on several occasions that he did not know what to do.

Gabriel Williams - Unicoi County Sheriff's Office (cont.)

The court plays an audio recording between police and Owens at the scene shortly after he was apprehended by officers. In the recording, Owens requests a cigarette multiple times while officers continue to ask where Stacie Brugger's body was.

In the recording, Owens admits that Stacie Brugger's body is in her Nissan Juke.

Gabriel Williams - Unicoi County Sheriff's Office

Williams worked as a chief investigator with the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department back in 2022. Williams says he and officers Buckner, Ricker and another officer responded to a call concerning the whereabouts of Stacie Brugger.

The court was shown the gun that officers say Owens produced following a 100-yard pursuit.

Williams says he found a single shell casing in Owens's pocket when he was apprehended.

Williams says Owens spoke with police at the scene about what happened at the camper.

Anthony Buckner - Unicoi County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigator

Buckner, a former narcotics investigator with the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department who says he was present in the chase that pursued when officers knocked on Tyler Owens's camper door.

Buckner says Owens 'displayed' a firearm when he was turning around to face officers. Buckner says he and the other three officers were trying to apprehend Owens on the ground and he was resisting.

Chad Ricker - Unicoi County Sheriff's Deputy:

Ricker, a former patrol officer with the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department, says he responded to the Nolichucky Gorge Campground after hearing that a murder may have happened. He says four officers approached the camper.

Ricker says he witnessed Owens getting out of the camper through the back window. Ricker says he and other officers chased Owens through the woods at the campground around 100 yards. Ricker says Owens eventually stopped and pulled out a firearm, 'flashing' it toward him and other officers.

Brysen Stork - Stacie Brugger's boss/ex-boyfriend:

Stork says he had contact with Brugger over the weekend her body was found. Brugger told him she was having car trouble on Saturday. He also saw Brugger on Saturday and the both agreed she should not travel to Kentucky for her sister's gender reveal party.

Stork says Brugger was texting and sending voice recordings to Tyler Owens. Stork says it appeared that Brugger was trying to deescalate a situation between herself and Owens. Stork says there was a fight between Brugger and Owens where he threatened to leave all of her belongings on a bridge.

He says Brugger did not show up to work on Tuesday and that day he was informed that Brugger's body was found.

Day 3 of the trial will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Unicoi County Courthouse.
