Pick your battles, man.

Go to service centre, check if it's working, take the car back and move on. I do not see any merit for a consumer case here.

My guess. There could have been a loose wiring connection that they could have fixed or might have reset something. May be they are not transparently informing you what went wrong to save their face. You could have went to consumer court if either showroom or the brand had denied rectifying the issue. In your case there is no problem as of now!

My advice, thoroughly reverify the functionality and if satisfied take your machine back and enjoy the time. At the same time get assurance from SA that issue would not recur even if it's a oral assurance.

There were much worse instances with couple of friends who were owners of brand new Nexon DCA and had faced main transmission failure and ignition issues respectively. But after rectification from SA the issues are not seen again since a year and are happily enjoying their drive!

I took delivery of Skoda Kylaq 1.0 Signature AT from KUM Skoda, Chennai. On the day of delivery itself I found that the infotainment was not working, they first said it could be radio code issue and took it to service. After about 2 hours they came back and said it's a software update issue and now it's resolved after an update. I was first shocked how such a small thing was missed in the PDI.

On way back home, problem surfaced again. Bluetooth wouldn't connect and so is Android Auto. I tried several times with several devices but no luck
I immediately reported it to the dealer and they asked me to bring back the vehicle.

Things became worse, I discovered the next day the the insurance they provided has an incorrect vehicle chassis number which practically made the insurance void. When I reported this they said they could rectify it ASAP. Once again, something that they overlooked.

I took back my car, spent 3 hours in service and finally they said it's a faulty infotainment system. It should be sent for warranty replacement is what they claimed. At this point I was utterly shocked and frustrated. I demanded for an upgrade of infotainment which they provide as part of additional accesories. They said they cannot do that straight away.

To add, I found out read charging ports are not working. I collated all these issues and sent to Dealer head for immediate response but I am chasing them daily to get some update.

They have taken my vehicle now and they said they will keep it in service for 3 days for observation, after which they can claim warranty for defects.

I have paid in full for a car but is suffering from all such issues and has no car to drive now.

Please advice on how to proceed further. What can I expect and what can I demand?

I also faced some issues on the 7inch touchscreen on my Kylaq signature MT. There were events in the first few days, when I could not change the volume from the steering wheel, and also from the infotainment system for both Apple CarPlay and radio. I tried connecting the device to my other phone that has android Auto and I faced the same issue. But when I returned to the car after two hours, it all started working again, I could change the volume through staining wheel as well as the infotainment system.

There were also instances where I could not connect the phone to Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay through wire, but these issues were easily resolved by restarting the car.

I have now purchased a wired to wireless Apple CarPlay and android auto converter from Amazon called carlizem and it clearly helps me to seamlessly connect my Apple CarPlay and android or to every time I start my car automatically. It connects automatically to the Apple CarPlay and android almost 99% of the time, so I would say the connectivity is not an issue.

Regarding the volume, I still face sometimes this issue. Even with the adapter, the car volume sometimes freezes and it does not change in order to rectify the issue. I have to turn off the ignition and lock the car and wait for 30 seconds and then start the car again. This helps to restart the infotainment system and is a temporary fix for me whenever I face this issue. Last week I visited the Skoda showroom and we tried to replicate the issue, but the volume issue did not appear in front of the service staff and technician and in the last week there has been no incident of the entertainment system stuck on the volume. The service people have asked me to record a video in case the issue appears again, and then they will get in touch with the Skoda team to see if there’s a possible solution available.
In the meantime, I am enjoying my time with my kylaq and not worrying about these small issues. I have I have previously used both Volkswagen Vento and Virtus where we faced similar issues of Bluetooth connectivity and issues with connectivity of Apple CarPlay. Every time such issue comes it is usually resolved by turning off the ignition and locking the vehicle for 30 seconds, which resets the current in the infotainment system. I hope Skoda will be able to resolve my issue with kylaq with a software update.

I hope this helps you to understand that these issues can occur sometimes, and we should enjoy the vehicle and cooperate with Showroom and service so that they can resolve our issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I too was very cool with it on Day1 and took the car home, it all started escalating when I start finding issues myself. Dealers are not exhibiting transparency and accountability, that's what is concerning.

Rear charging port is now working magically without any fix from the service. I am concerned about electricals especially. Anyway, I'm waiting to take back my vehicle after through inspection myself. Let's see how it goes.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Hi Bhpians,

Need some urgent information regarding selection of accessories. My Prestige AT is scheduled for delivery this coming Friday. I was discussing with PPS Skoda Mysore Road showroom representative who handles exclusively accessories. He said we cannot individually opt any accessories which I felt is absurd! And currently they have only two kit packs to offer one of which needs to be selected by the customer irrespective of whether he needs everything in the list or not. On top of it, the basic elite pack costing around 6999/- didn't had basic and also important item, mudflaps! Sharing below the list provided by them:

ESSENTIAL KIT KYLAQ ELITE PACK Rs.6999/-
1 3D ALL WEATHER MAT
2 SUNBLINDS REAR PASSENGERS
3 BODY COVER
4 C TO C CABLE
5 CAR CARE STARTER KIT
6 PERFUME

ESSENTIAL KIT KYLAQ ELITE PRO PACK Rs.16499/-
1 3D ALL WEATHER MAT
2 SUNBLINDS REAR PASSENGERS
3 BODY COVER
4 C TO C CABLE
5 CAR CARE STARTER KIT
6 PERFUME
7 TYRE INFLATOR
8 STAINLESS STEEL SCUFF PLATES
9 DOOR EDGE GARNISH
10 FRONT GRILL GARNISH - CHROME
11 MUDFLAPS FRONT & REAR
12 WELCOME KIT
13 WATER REPELLENT FILM

Upon arguing a bit more saying how can a basic pack miss mud flaps, the representative told he has one more pack costing 7800/- that is basic elite pack + mud flaps to which I gave go ahead as of now. They tell currently they don't have option to give the customers individual items!

Does anyone went through same dilemma as me or you were freely given the option to select only needed accessories? Please let me know at the earliest.

If what the representative told is the same case with everyone then I feel it's enforcement of the packs on the customers which literally is not at all a good practice from a reputed brand that aspires to gain more market share! Phew...

It was the same case with me and the dealer was confident since they gave me this mandate on email. Since for me only few items like C2C cable and Car care kit was non-essential I was anyway okay with the Elite Pack. But at the time of delivery I was able to get the Mudflap included in 6999 pack. May be try this negotiation. Hope it helps!

I chose the basic accessory package, and I was particularly impressed with the flexibility offered. I was even able to swap out items – for example, I didn't take the car cover, and the cost was adjusted towards other accessories I selected.

Overall, Tafe Access Skoda was very supportive, and I was able to choose exactly the accessories I needed.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Hi All,

This is my first post on the TeamBHP forum. I have been reading posts/reviews by fellow BHPians for a long time though.

So, the first car that I bought was the TATA Indica Vista (Petrol) in January 2019. Yeah, at the age of 29. Car was registered in June, 2010. First owner was my brother-in-law. At the time of purchase, the odometer was at 30,000 kms. It was hardly driven. In the last 6 years, I only did yearly maintenance as my running is around 8000 km/year. I had to replace the coolant tank, thermostat once. Apart from this, there was no other issue. I took this car from Pune to Hampi, Dapoli, Harihareshwar and it never gave any problems. By December 2024, the odometer reading was 75,000 kms. During Covid (2020 and till mid 2021) I hardly travelled. So, the 35000 kms were mostly covered in 4.5 years. My home town is 200 kms from Pune and I travel at least once and many times, even twice a month.

Since, Diwali 2024 all my family members started nagging me to buy a new car. This was happening for the last couple of years but I always managed to convince them otherwise. But this time even my 4 years old daughter was also arguing with determination. Quality she inherited (and mastered) from my better half .

So the hunt began on the 1st day of December 2024 itself with the budget of 15 lakh. Requirement was: A safe automatic car under 15 lakh. I thought it would be easy to finalize after searching a few websites with filters for transmission and price. I was impressed by the Honda Amaze launched in December 2024. No-nonsense car (VX CVT variant). So, we took a test drive of the Amaze and Elevate CVT. Amaze was rejected by all family members and to me Elevate felt really smooth in city traffic but noisy and laggy on an open stretch. I was disappointed as this car probably has one of the best 1.5 ltr NA engine out there. I think CVT is the culprit here but I am not an expert so I will leave it there.

So, again we were back to square one. In the next week wife started sharing news of Skoda Kylaq with some YT shorts. I had heard horror stories of Skoda and VW owners in the past about how their maintenance and repair bills went through the roof. So, I didn’t pay much attention to Kylaq. However, on the weekend we visited a close relative. They own a Skoda Rapid purchased in 2020. So, I asked them about their experience with the car and the service etc. They told me that the car is really fun to drive and due to the maintenance package they pay around 7-8k for each service. This was a surprise to me. I was paying TATA ASC around 6.5k for regular Indica Vista servicing. So, I started searching more about how Skoda and VW are able to manage this. Within a few days, I got confirmation about servicing costs from a couple of colleagues who own Skoda Kushaq.

Made up my mind and booked Signature+ AT variant of Kylaq with candy white color in the third week of January 2025. Skoda did a disaster with the launch I think. People had to book the car without seeing it in person. So, when TD cars arrived at the dealership, we went for the test drive on January 28th. TD car was a Prestige AT. By now, you know that Kylaq is a big upgrade over the Indica Vista. That 1.0 TSI seems like a little fella but it has serious grunt. I was pretty impressed by Kylaq. The performance, cabin experience and suspension were better (by a big margin) than what I had experienced in other cars so far.

Inside the showroom, Signature+ variant was parked. While I was discussing the further process with the sales executive, my wife and daughter were checking the Signature+ variant. After finishing my conversation, I went to my wife to finalize the color as she wanted to see the carbon steel color once. By the look on her face, I immediately sensed I was in trouble. She liked the Prestige variant more than Signature+. It was a tricky situation. Prestige was too costly and hardly offered any sensible features apart from projector headlamps and ventilated seats. TBH, electrically powered seat adjustment and sunroof were never on my must have list. Also, at that price point Kushaq or Taigun being bigger cars were making more sense. However, my parking space was not good enough for these bigger cars. I once parked a Nexon in my parking space and it was a perfect fit. So, car length was one of the biggest determining factor. Hence, after thinking a lot I finally decided to book Prestige AT.

Dealership initially told me that there is a possibility of getting the benefit of a free 3 years service package offered to initial customers as I was upgrading the variant. However, after a couple of days they told me that they couldn’t. Bit the bullet and paid the amount. Insurance was taken from TATA AIG with all add-ons (zero depreciation, return to invoice etc.) for around 29k from PolicyBazaar. Did first PDI alone with the TeamBHP checklist and then from Zekardo. The person from Zekardo was knowledgeable and he checked the car thoroughly for almost 45 mins. He gave go ahead as there were no issues and the car was in mint condition. Car insurance details along with signed, stamped hypothecation form from the bank were handed over to the dealership only after PDI.

Finally, we got the delivery of our car on Sunday, February 17th. Below are few pictures clicked on the day of delivery:

In Pune:
Skoda Kylaq Review-img20250216wa0008.jpg

At hometown:
Skoda Kylaq Review-20250217_132835.jpg

Drove to hometown on the same day. It took me some time to get used to the automatic transmission. Journey was smooth and exciting. Car really felt engaging and too eager. Slight pressure on the accelerator can give you that smooth yet addictive pull from 40 to 100+ kmph and even then the engine doesn't seem to be working hard. She always puts that stupid grin on my face . I just need an excuse to take her out for a spin.

So far, I have visited my hometown 4 times and measured fuel economy with tank to tank method thrice. Same petrol bunk just on the different day as I stayed at my hometown for at least 2 days. So, everytime fuel economy was between 14.5-15 kmpl. I follow the route Pune - Yavat - Indapur - Hometown. So, till Yavat (48 km) from my house, it’s like city condition and then from Yavat till hometown(150 km) it’s NH. I use cruise control extensively on NH with speed set to 80-90 kmph. However, in March, we did a short trip from Pune to Wai and after coming back I was bit surprised.

Skoda Kylaq Review-20250227_075213.jpg

In this trip, I didn't use cruise control. All thanks to the pathetic condition of NH-48 . Anyway, I understand that fuel economy figures on MID are always on higher side but this even then its the highest figure I have seen yet. So, not sure why I am not getting similar or better economy with cruise control.

I have installed 70Mai A510 dual channel dashcam, 7D floor mats and purchaed typre inflator and puncture repair kit from Amazon. Haven't installed any Skoda accessories yet. Not even mud flaps. Will do it later in this month.

I was able to pick selected accessories and pay only for what I opted for. Also the Elite Pack included mud flaps.

While cruise control gives you good fuel economy in general, that's not the best method to extract the highest fuel economy for your vehicle. The reason is that even on inclines, the vehicle tries to maintain the same speed which will revv up the engine whereas if you are driving, you might not be so hard on the throttle and might not try to maintain the same speed. the sweet spot for a petrol engine is to drive it either at around 80 percent load or coast where the DFCO will completely cut off the fuel.

In terms of driving technique, it's the pulse and coast technique which will give you the best fuel economy not constant light throttle or heavy throttle.

Regardless, I prefer cruise control for the nirvana like comfort it offers due to less acceleration/deceleration. It makes the journey very comfortable and less tiring for the driver and the passenger.

Yeah, I am okay with 14-15 kmpl economy. I was just wondering about that 17 kmpl economy which I got while returning from Wai to Pune. Because entire route was having frequent bad patches. On the contrary, route to my hometown is really great and there are hardly any ghats or steep inclines. I am also getting hang of cruise control and will keep using it even if it returns lower economy. Its just smooth and hassle free. Big thanks to the fine tuned TC I guess.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

PPS Yelahanka and Kalyan Nagar both are allowing customers to pick accessories that they want as per my interaction

Probably because of their experience with me!

In Jan 1st week I asked for a test drive they did come, CC Skoda Customer care, next day they came. Even got a customer survey call from Skoda

In Feb requested information on accessories no response on email. CC Skoda Customer care, I was got multiple calls from the showroom and the information

In Mar asked for any information on delivery again no response, CC Skoda, immediate update. I did not press the matter as I understand Signature has low production hence will take time

I did not know that each CC to Skoda becomes a ticket.
Would have been great if the showroom was proactive and Skoda did not need to get involved.

Signature AT Insurance quote by showroom was close to 42k. Checked online Tata AIG has cashless with PPS and with Return to invoice (RTI) quote was 26K.
PPS came down to 28K.

Hence I would say involve the Brand when needed (as everyone has already stated), let go when possible.

They need to make a profit and I am getting into a medium term relationship with them, hence fine, as long as I don't see a rip off attempted.

On your first post, it kind of implied that the fuel economy was for to and fro journey. On the following post, it sounded like it was for the return journey. If you were referring only to the return journey, then the below post from @07CR is the most significant reason.
