A 21-year-old woman is now dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Fresno County.

The crash happened early Thursday morning around 5:20 a.m., on Interstate 5 and Highway 33.

California Highway Patrol Officers learned that 24-year-old Orlando Pinales, from San Jose, was driving a 1997 Honda Del Sol southbound on Interstate 5, south of Highway 33.

At the same time, 49-year-old Adan Delgadillo Ruiz, from Truckee, was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue along the right shoulder of Interstate 5 southbound, south of Highway 33.

Officers say Pinales then turned to the right shoulder, crashing into the back of the Nissan. The crash caused the Honda to spin southbound, crossing into a lane. The Nissan was also pushed south along the right shoulder.

27-year-old Manuel Berrospe, from Los Banos, driving a 2021 Hyundai Sonata, was approaching the Honda, when he crashed into the back of it, causing the Honda to crash with a cable barrier.

Officers say 22-year-old Maria Mendoza, from Mendota, driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, was approaching the debris when the front of her car collided with a a displaced tire from the Honda.

Officers also say a 21-year-old passenger from the Honda was taken by helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center, where she died.

Another passenger was taken to CRMC along with the drivers in the crash.

It's unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
