A 42 year old police sergeant was shot and killed in Loate, Pretoria North, during a house robbery in the early hours of 22 February 2018.

Gauteng police have opened a case of murder and house robbery after a police sergeant was shot and killed in his house in Loate on Wednesday, 21 February 2018 at approximately 04:00.

It is alleged that the police officer was asleep with his wife and two children, aged 14 and 7 years, when they were attacked by three armed men. The suspects shot the police officer several times on the upper body and he died on the scene.

Suspects took a plasma TV, laptop, two cell phones and cash before fleeing the scene.

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help arrest the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.
