Uzbekistan imported cars to the country for almost $320 million, Trend reports via Podrobno.uz.
State Statistics Committee emphasized that cars were brought to the country for only $155.3 million in 2017, for $193 million in 2016 and for $120.4 million in 2015.
The imported car parts to the country amounted to $960 million. The figure includes parts and large nodes of GM Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan also imported a significant amount of foreign tires and lids for $193 million.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported cars worth only $29.3 million and car parts for $3.8 million last year.
Last year, Uzbekistan became one of the top three importers of Russia-made cars, with 3100 units, within 11 months.
GM Uzbekistan produced 220,667 cars last year and broke the record for the monthly production of cars for the first time in the history of the company by making 34,117 units for December 2018, more than 1000 cars daily.
Moreover, the cost of each model was reduced by 10-16 percent and the cost of imports by $ 73 million.
