A woman died Saturday from her injuries in a two-car crash in Attleboro Friday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Volvo C70 that crashed on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, was pronounced deceased Saturday at Rhode Island Hospital. She has been identified as Erica Hopkins of Pawtucket, R.I.
At around 11 p.m. Friday, Hopkins and a 24-year-old man from Pawtucket, R.I., were southbound on I-95 when he lost control of the car. Police are still investigating what made him lose control.
The car crashed and then came to stop in the middle and left lanes of the road. Police said the man and Hopkins ended up outside the car following the crash.
Moments later, a 17-year-old was also driving southbound and hit the car and possibly the man and Hopkins as well. It is unclear if they were hit by their own car or by the 17-year-old, police said.
The victims were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, and the 17-year-old was not hurt.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed yet.
State police were joined at the scene by Attleboro fire and EMS, Attleboro police and MassDOT.
